Schumaker, First Lady Pat Nixon, Chinese interpreters, officials, and the press watch a panda inside an enclosure at the Beijing Zoo (also known as the Peking Zoo) on February 22, 1972. The trip to the zoo was part of the Nixons' State Visit to the People's Republic of China.
